"Hinagata Wakana no Hatsumoyo" is a large-scale nishiki-e series published in the mid-to-late Edo period (from the An'ei to Tenmei eras). Created by Isoda Koryusai and Torii Kiyonaga , it played a role similar to a fashion magazine of the time, depicting the fashionable kimonos and hairstyles of the courtesans and kamuro of Yoshiwara. There are over 100 works, and their gorgeous depictions convey the culture of Edo.
